Achai Broner is a dedicated father and advocate for families impacted by DNM1L disorders. After his son Oliver was diagnosed with a DNM1L variation, Achai and his wife tirelessly sought new ways to improve their son’s quality of life, turning their personal journey into a mission to help others. Achai brings over 20 years of experience in the HVAC and energy efficiency industry, currently serving as a top Account Executive at Johnson Controls. With a background in mechanical engineering and an MBA from Presidio Graduate School, he is skilled in problem-solving and driven to find innovative solutions.

Dr. Michael Wangler is a board-certified medical geneticist and a renowned researcher in human genetics, currently serving as an Associate Professor of Molecular and Human Genetics at Baylor College of Medicine. He also works at Texas Children’s Neurofibromatosis Clinic, where his expertise focuses on rare genetic disorders, including peroxisomal disorders and the genetic basis of neurological conditions. Dr. Wangler’s passion for helping families affected by rare diseases has driven his involvement in the DNM1L Foundation, where he is committed to advancing research and developing innovative treatment approaches.

Jaana Coogan is a passionate advocate for families affected by rare genetic disorders. As a mother of a child with a DNM1L variation, Jaana has dedicated herself to finding better treatments and support systems for children like her own. With a background in education and a deep commitment to community building, Jaana co-founded the DNM1L Foundation to connect families, researchers, and medical professionals in the fight against this rare condition. Her personal experience fuels her drive to raise awareness, advance research, and provide hope to other families facing similar challenges.

Liz is a devoted stay-at-home mom of 3 very active kids that keep her very busy! Being the mom of a child affected by a DNM1L Disorder, she knows the tireless struggle of coordinating with doctors, insurance companies, therapists, and medical researchers to find treatment options that will improve Oliver’s quality of life. To address these demanding challenges many families like hers face, she has co-founded the DNM1L Foundation. She has over 10 years of experience of working at non-profits where she managed fundraising events and conducted donor cultivation and research.
